New Support Service for Relatives, Friends & Carers -
Friday's 10.00am to 12.00noon
Is someone else's drinking or using affecting you? Are you experiencing anxiety or depression? Do you often feel dread, fear, anger or rage? Do you have a knot in your stomach worrying about how someone is going to behave or how much he or she has had to drink, or has used? Are you unable to sleep because you are worried about your family, money etc? Are you tired of all the arguments? Do you often wonder why they drink/ use so much? Do you spend time throwing alcohol down the sink, or flushing drugs down the toilet? Are you feeling responsible for that person's drug and/or alcohol use?
If the answer is 'yes' to any of these questions, then someone else's drinking /drug use is affecting you. Getting some support can mean an end to the feelings of hopelessness, despair and anger. It can eliminate isolation and gain understanding of the problem.
Experience shows that it is possible the problem user will respond positively, some weeks or months after the spouse or key relative has been seeking help regularly.
If you would like a leaflet or would like more information, please do not hesitate to call our Centre.

Stockbrook Seniors Golf Club Supports Synergy The new Stockbrook Seniors Club Captain Mr Paul Wilkins has nominated Synergy as the charity that monies raised by members at the various events held by the club throughout 2012 will be donated.
In his acceptance speech on being made Captain on December 14th he made all members aware of his commitment to the Synergy Charity and to be generous in their support to this cause. He commented “In choosing my charity I wanted to find one that worked specifically for the benefit of our local community and would be specifically aware of Stock Brook. It had to also be well established and respected by local health authorities”.
Synergy is very appreciative of Paul’s contribution to our work and for his efforts in bringing our cause to the attention of more people in the community and we wish him every success in his year as Captain.
